Grand Harbor is a caring and giving Community and we are grateful for the support of our members, volunteers and corporate sponsors.  In the 2013-2014 season, Grand Harbor Community Outreach Program provided over $300,000 to non-profit organizations in Indian River County including the November Evening of Giving which generated $25,000 in cash & gifts.

 

Our Philanthropy Committee allocated over $275,000 to 27 deserving agencies this year.  These funds were generated from multiple sources including our Annual Fund appeal, our corporate sponsors and our special events.  Since 2001 we have provided over $2.35 million to area         non-profit agencies.

WHO IS GHCOP?

GHCOP is a 501(c)(3) organization.

Grand Harbor residents and our sponsors are the only source of revenue. The management is made up entirely of Grand Harbor volunteers.

Outreach is a non-profit and member-driven organization engaged in fund raising to address unmet needs of groups and individuals in the areas of health, education and human services in Indian River County, Florida.

PHILANTHROPY

The Philanthropy Committee has the responsibility to conduct a thorough review process and qualify agency applications and their programs. It recommends to the Outreach Board for its approval a list of agencies to receive grant awards. These humanitarian grants support specific capital projects/programs as well as operating funds to a non-profit organization.

 

The Philanthropy Committee consists of about 24 volunteers divided into four teams under a team leader and last season reviewed over 35 requests for funding.  The four major agency categories are:

Supporting the basic needs

of individuals - food, shelter & clothing.

The promotion or development of family values and the family structure.

The promotion of healthy individuals and the support of those in need of special assistance (elderly, mentally or physically challenged).

Programs that improve social, emotional and academic skills of youth.

Annual Fund

The Annual Fund Drive is the major source of funds for the Outreach effort each season.  In October we mail a solicitation letter to the members of Grand Harbor Club.  Last season we raised a record $190,000 from 293 members & $14,000 in memorium for a total of $204,000.

We will hold 4 fund raising events this season, The Evening of Giving, Bridge and Majhong Luncheon, Gala Dinner & Auction and our Golf Classic.  For details please see below.

Each season we have a number of generous sponsors from various local businesses.  These funds covered all of our administrative and event expenses, so that 100% of our members’ contributions go directly to area non-profit programs. Please see page on "SPONSORS" for details.
